THE BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT - THE 'MEET YOUR MIND' 6 BOOK SERIES

THIS BOOK SERIES, CONSISTING OF 6 DIFFERENT VOLUMES AND WRITTEN BY MARK ABRAHAM, ARE BASED ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF 'THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN INSTINCT AND INTELLECT AND THEIR IMPACT ON HUMAN BEHAVIOR'. THEY ARE ALL AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN HARD & SOFT COVER AND eBOOK FORMATS.

To understand humans, we must identify the mental forces that drive us; how they interact and jointly issue the commands of all our deeds.  Our species is known for its intellect, but the human mind consists of not a single pole of intellect, but it is bipolar and consists of intellect plus 17 different instincts.  Each of these mental elements has a unique function of its own, just as our anatomical parts do.   You disregard either instincts or intellect in studying humans, and you will never fully grasp what it is to be human.  This unique perspective disassembles the mind into its individual components and studying each separately and simplifies this complex subject and makes it accessible to all.  Understanding the mechanism of the human mind in turn, unveils the roots of arts, sports, religions, humans’ unique sexuality, ethics and morality, politics, war and how body and mind interface, covered in six books.

Meet Your Mind: Volume I

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its                          Impact on Human Behavior

Length: 420 Pages

Mark Abraham came to America as a student in 1973 bent on finding the hidden causes of perpetual human conflicts. By1982 he acquired two degrees in international politics and in 1987 invented an item, founded a company, produced and distributed his product. In America he learned much about the world affair, but did not find his answers. For postgraduate he studied philosophy, seeking ideas from the thinkers of the past, but to no avail. However, he learned that these thinkers being so fascinated by human intellect had observed humans from the stance of intellect alone, while ignoring the mighty forces of instincts.

Three human instincts are universally accepted, and Mark has identified 14 more each of which drives us more forcefully than does our intellect. Ignoring this mental force had created a missing link in studying man that is responsible for all human riddles. Placing this missing link in its rightful place reveals that the contrasting natures of the progressing intellect and stagnant instincts have resulted in a growing imbalance in the mind. Your stagnant instincts impair your intelligence, hinder your happiness and are responsible for all manmade disasters. However, because of its subtle nature it continues to escape attention. This work shows how to disengage your instincts and intellect, boost your intelligence and happiness, while it also resolves some major human enigmas. For the first time we see why humans are so spiritual; what makes man so incurably political; what makes us worship arts and also sports. Why, of all beings, humans alone are at the same time polygamous and monogamous that renders humans alone sexually confused.

Meet Your Playful Mind: Volume II

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its                        Impact on Human Behavior

Length: 286 Pages

I argue that the humans' world divides into the two categories of serious affairs and pleasing affairs. The pleasing aspect of humanity is structured on the four pillars of kindness, fun, amazement and sensuality that constitute humans, Playful Mind. Indeed, man does not live by bread alone, and as Shakespeare says, "to be human is to play." Different instincts constantly precipitate varying human interests and energize all human emotions and they interact. For example, the limitless unconditional services mothers afford their children is the optimal reflection of kindness. Then, comes sensuality in which again, mothers are great players in sensuality as well. This justifies why Persians say, behesht zir payeh madaran ast that means, heaven belongs to mothers. Then for fun and pleasure the artists through their endless arts and athletes through amazing athletic abilities purge life of boredom and render life endlessly beautiful and delicious. Thus, besides mothers, heaven also belongs to great artists and superb athletes.

Having said that, humans have enjoyed arts and sports for millennia without being able to articulate exactly what in these frivolous activities so engrosses these superbly intelligent and purposeful beings. Hence, we have been relishing that which we do not understand at all. It has also never been explained why humans alone, of all beings, are simultaneously polygamous and monogamous. This renders our species alone sexually confused. To use another example, over 90% of both genders have sexual fantasies that constitute a good portion of human psyche. Yet the origin of this fascinating and hugely prevalent human psychology is yet to be identified. This study, The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its Impact on Human Behavior, for the first time unveils all these and more of human mysteries and renders man naked, so to speak.

Meet Your Spiritual Mind

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its             Impact on Human Behavior

Length: 374 Pages

Spirituality fragments humans into theists and atheists, while believers take every mystical claim of their faiths as facts, atheists dismiss them as superstitions. The improper understanding of faith by both sides renders their mutual points of contention irrelevant to the real subject of faith and the debates become superficial and inconclusive. Both sides find the roots of faith in heavens thus religion becomes all mystical. However, its real roots are firmly planted in the human psyche and can be best understood in the context of how the stagnant instincts associate with progressing intellect. This shows what practical human needs demanded the invention of faith, what has sustained them and why they grow stronger in time, and the faith of religion.

Important new questions and answers emerge from this view that issue serious challenges to believers and nonbelievers alike. For instance, if somehow Jesus, Mohammad and Moses were never born, would their three billion followers go without faith forever?  They did not appear in India and China and those people invented godless religions of their own. Then, what was the relevance of these great leaders and even God to larger picture of religion? On the opposite side many refute religion for not being scientific and desire their demise, yet they worship art that is just as unscientific? The same people also claim that faith, being archaic, are useless for modern time and desire their eradication, but they never demand the same for state which is just as old. This study also explores if faith and evolution are irreconcilable contradictions, proves that faith is the essence of evolution, and we see this old phenomenon of faith in a new way and solve its mystery.

Meet Your Political Mind

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its                              Impact on Human Behavior

Length: 262 pages

Mark Abraham came to America as a student in 1973, bent on finding the hidden causes of perpetual human conflicts. By1982 he acquired two degrees in international politics, in 1987 invented an item, founded a company, produced and distributed his product. In America he learned much about the world affair but did not find his answers. For postgraduate he studied philosophy seeking ideas from the thinkers of the past, but to no avail. However, he learned that these thinkers, being so fascinated by human intellect, had observed humans from the stance of intellect alone while ignoring the mighty forces of instincts. Three human instincts are universally accepted, but Mark has identified 14 more, each of which drives us more forcefully than our intellect. Ignoring this mental force had created a missing link in studying man that is responsible for all human riddles.

'Politics' is one of the most used but the least understood words, many thinking that it is a profession for the select few in each society, whereas it is a brand of behavior unique to humans that starts in childhood. Once, Aristotle said that, "man is a political animal". In the context of how instincts and intellect interact reveals that this human attribute is one of human's least desirable traits. Through this we get to see that to be instinctive is to be selfish and to be selfish and intelligent is to be political. Because instincts and intellect are permanent human fixtures, politicking that results from their co-function also becomes a human trait and renders man a political animal.
This term needs to be redefined to exact its meaning and allow it to cover all its' domain, as is done here. Through this text we also get to see why politicking, and true civility, is incompatible and how the progress of one demands the demise of the other. Through politics people try to impose conditions on one another to advance their causes at the expense of others. Politicking results from selfishness that is the essence of all instincts. Yet instinct is the sole force that governs the world of animals, thus instinct becomes the refined reflection of instinctive selfishness in man. Where animals use fangs, claws, venom, speed and brute force to subdue and devour their pray, humans apply politics that includes the use of brute force. Misconceiving this term greatly contributes to human conflict at all levels, which is why most people unconsciously dislike politicking.

Meet Your Artistic and Athletic Mind

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its Impact on Human Behavior

Length: 324 Pages

Human love of the arts goes 82,000 years back; and Aristotle wrote the first book on arts. Since then it has been debated what art is, but still we lack a definition for it that would be acceptable to all. This shows that we do not understand it well enough to properly define it. This confusion stems from an inadequate philosophical perception of it and, therefore, we have been relishing that which we do not comprehend. Thus, we try to understand arts by studying art objects, however, we need to identify what in the mind longs for arts in its metaphysical realm to understand it. This is why we have been mixing novel, painting, music, acting, architecture, Persian rugs and poetry, as each category consists of endless number of art objects. Although they all are arts, they have nothing in common, but we insist on defining all by a single definition, to no avail.

Based on what mental force longs for which group of arts coupled with the structure of the art forms, they divide into three logical categories. Then, through this thought system we also get to realize that there exists an inequity in the sensitivity of the corresponding mental faculties and we experience different intensities of pleasure from the different art forms. Some arts, like live music by even average artists will invoke emotions in many who may scream, cry and faint at concerts. While other experiences of arts, such as observing the works of Michelangelo, Picasso or other great artists, never cause such responses.
This view carries us deep into arts as a phenomenon and helps artists to further refine their arts and the audiences to appreciate it even more. All of the above observations also hold true for sports.

Meet Your Sexual Mind

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its                         Impact on Human Behavior

The paradoxes of human sexuality are self-evident, yet it is difficult to explain them through the conventional understanding of the mind. Compared to animals that are governed by instincts alone, the human mind is bipolar and consists of instincts and intellect. These two mental forces issue opposite sets of orders; this instinct demands polygamous relationships, while human intellect commands monogamy. Thus, humans are pulled in between the two opposite forces from which all the rest of beings are exempt. This renders humans alone sexually confused. From this ensues an ever-present self-imposed suppression of one of the strongest of all human desires, instinctive polygamous drive.

One force compels people not to be content with a single sexual partner, while the other commands them to stick with their sole mate for life. This constant inner struggle in the mind of most adults has profound psychological and behavioral implications that find expression in many different levels in human conduct. It ranges from the most beautiful, tender and loving to violence and even murder in extreme cases. This occupies a huge place of its own in the overall human psyche that includes humans' sexual fantasy, as the studies show that over 90% of both genders resort to sexual fantasies. Hence, people have evolved to find a way to achieve some of the demands of both of these mental forces. Many in the privacy of their minds live a polygamous life and commit adultery, devoid of physical infidelity. Understanding the interactions between the progressing intellect and stagnant instincts reveal these and much more about human sexuality that otherwise escapes attention.
